Principal Flutist, Buenos Aires Philharmonic
Claudio Barile is one of Argentina’s most distinguished flutists, with a celebrated career spanning South America, Europe, and the United States. A leading exponent of the Argentine musical tradition, he has served as Principal Flutist and Soloist of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic since 1984 and has been a member of the orchestra since 1974.
A frequent soloist at the renowned Teatro Colón, Barile has performed much of the major flute repertoire, including concertos by Mozart, C.P.E. Bach, and Jacques Ibert. He has also held positions with the Buenos Aires Musical Ensemble, the Orchestra of the Americas in Mexico, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Argentina.
As a member of the internationally acclaimed Camerata Bariloche, Barile has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, including participation in Carnegie Hall’s centennial celebrations. His recording of Alberto Ginastera’s Impresiones de la Puna with Camerata Bariloche was released on the Dorian label.
An active chamber musician, Barile performs with Quadro Barocco and is a founding member of the award-winning Buenos Aires Philharmonic Quintet, recipient of the prestigious Konex Award for Chamber Music.
A three-time recipient of the Konex Award, Barile received the Platinum Konex Award for Wind Instruments in 2009 and has earned numerous distinctions throughout his career, including major national and international competition prizes, scholarships, and artistic honors.
His recordings include acclaimed interpretations of the music of Astor Piazzolla, and in 2012 he received Argentina’s prestigious Carlos Gardel Award for Best Classical Album for his recording of History of the Tango, Tango Etudes, and works by Daniel Binelli.
Throughout his career, Claudio Barile has combined orchestral excellence, chamber music artistry, and international solo appearances, establishing himself as one of the most respected flutists in Latin America.
