Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson Becomes an Official Member of the Berliner Philharmoniker

Emanuel Flutes warmly congratulates Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson on successfully completing his probationary period with the Berliner Philharmoniker and becoming an official member of the orchestra.

Höskuldsson joined the Berliner Philharmoniker as Solo Flutist in September 2025, following a distinguished orchestral career in the United States. He served as Principal Flute of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York from 2008 to 2016 and as Principal Flute of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 2015 to 2025.

Born in Iceland, Höskuldsson began his musical training at the Reykjavík School of Music with Bernhard Wilkinson and later studied with Peter Lloyd at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Alongside his orchestral career, he is internationally active as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher, and masterclass clinician.

Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson is an Emanuel Flutes artist, and we are immensely proud to see him reach this remarkable milestone with one of the world’s great orchestras.

Congratulations, Stefán!
